ENTHRONED - New Album Details Revealed
With the release of their twelfth album, "Ashspawn," Enthroned embarks on a new chapter in their three-decade journey of ritualistic black metal. Created over six years, the album represents both an exploration of spiritual death and a rebirth. Collaborating with occult author Gilles de Laval, "Ashspawn" blends arcane practices, metaphysical concepts, and esoteric themes into a piece that is equal parts ritual and music. It stands as the pinnacle of Enthroned's relentless vision, a transformative weapon forged in fire and darkness.
Formed in Namur, Belgium, in 1993, Enthroned rose from the black metal underground to establish themselves as one of Europe’s most uncompromising acts. Their debut album, "Prophecies of Pagan Fire" (1995), introduced their blistering speed, occult themes, and commitment to the Left Hand Path. Within their first year, they secured a record deal, quickly making a mark on the international metal scene.
However, tragedy struck in 1997 when founding drummer Cernunnos died by suicide shortly after recording their second album. Using his preserved rehearsal tracks, the band completed "Towards The Skullthrone of Satan" (1997), channeling their grief into unrelenting fury and solidifying their place in black metal. This resilience became a hallmark of the band, whose ritualistic vision endured through numerous lineup changes.
Over the decades, Enthroned’s catalog grew into a powerful collection, with albums like "Armoured Bestial Hell" (2001) and "Carnage in Worlds Beyond" (2003) pushing their sound into more aggressive and atmospheric realms. The mid-2000s saw a period of transformation, marked by the release of "Tetra Karcist."
"Ashspawn" will be released on December 5th through Season Of Mist.
